There is an important policy that took effect on October 5, 2020. The clerk's office now requires a case number to locate cases. You cannot search by name alone at the clerk's office. Standard copies cost $0.50 per page. Plat records that are 11 by 17 inches or smaller also cost $0.50 per page. Plat records larger than 11 by 17 inches cost $1.00 per page. Certified copies are $5 per certification. Exemplified copies cost $10 per exemplification. The District Court is at 35 West Baltimore Street in Hagerstown (410-836-4545). District Court audio recordings are available on CD for $15 per case or by electronic delivery for $10 per case via Citrix ShareFile. Cases over three years old may not have recordings available.
Under Maryland Rules Title 16, Chapter 900, most court records in Washington County are open to the public. Sealed, shielded, and expunged records do not appear.
